Temporary Closure due to COVID-19

There is no higher priority than the safety of our community, our shelter volunteers, and the animals in our care.  Amid the concerns of COVID-19, starting today AAR will be closed to the public through March 23rd. During this closure, volunteers will still care for the animals, however we will be moving many cats and dogs into foster care to limit the number of volunteers needed at the shelter. We regret that we will be unable to accept incoming dogs and cats during this closure. AAR hopes to reopen for regular hours on Tuesday, March 24th, but we will take this on a day-to-day basis.

This precautionary measure does not mean that the shelter’s animals are in danger of either contracting or transmitting this infection. It is important to have the most up-to-date and accurate information, including the impact on animals. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there is no reason to think that any animal, including companion animals, may be a source of infection.  There is also no evidence of animals becoming sick with COVID-19, nor have they been found to spread it.

We are taking this situation seriously and will continue to closely monitor changes.  We sincerely appreciate your understanding in this matter.

    1. Hi Bridgett, I apologize for just seeing your comment. You can drop donations off on our front porch at 32632 Wright Rd in Magnolia. We are checking the porch each morning around 10am and then again around 5pm for donations. Thank you! Karen

  1. Are you still adopting out animals? I found your site through the internet. I have sent a couple of requests to get information about Rosebud, Clover and Orchid. I am guessing that they maybe from the same litter? I am also interested in information about them (meeting), your fees, and processes to adopt from your shelter. Thank you for your assistance

  2. I have 3 different size covered (top & bottom, not crate) kennels, some collars, leashes and dog bowls and a little bit of food.
I would love to donate these to you if you want them. Otherwise I will put them in a garage sale.
Moving and need to get rid of some things.
    Thanks,
    Noreen
