Black Cat Facts and Fancy! Did you know . . .

🐾 Both parents must carry the black color gene in order to produce a black kitten.
🐾 In order for a cat to be solid black, it must carry a recessive gene known as non-agouti.
🐾 Some black cats carry the agouti gene and therefore can be seen to have tabby patterns if they are in the sunlight.
🐾 The same gene that colors their fur black boosts immunity to many diseases.
🐾 Black cats are some of the friendliest cats around! (Ok, we’ll admit that’s not science; that’s just our unbiased opinion 😉).

This means that all the money raised or donated goes towards caring for cats and dogs, and maintaining the quality of the shelter and its grounds. AAR raises money through adoption fees, clinic fees, donations from supporters, and fundraisers.
