AAR Animal Admission Policy – please read carefully before contacting AAR regarding surrendering an animal. We are a limited admission shelter and cannot take drop-offs. It is also illegal to dump animals.

AAR is a “limited admission” shelter which means that to the best of our ability animals are screened for temperament and untreatable health issues before being accepted into the adoption program. Since AAR does not euthanize for space, in order to avoid overcrowding and warehousing, intake rates must match adoption rates, i.e. space is made available by adoptions.

If you have rescued a stray and can keep in your possession for awhile, AAR encourages you to post neighborhood signs, post on neighborhood and shelter web sites, etc. and attempt to reunite the animal with its original owner on your own.

Admission interviews can be scheduled by emailing: [email protected] or [email protected]
