Make a Difference in a Pet's Life!

Make a donation to AAR as a holiday gift to someone and we will send them an acknowledgement.

As Executive Director of Abandoned Animal Rescue, I want to personally thank you for your support during 2021- a great year of recovery after 2020’s challenges. We are grateful that we were able to revive our Wine Tasting and A Night in the Dog House fundraisers as well as being the beneficiary of many community and business events. We were also awarded life-saving grants from PetcoLove Foundation, Houston PetSet, PetFinder Foundation, Maddie’s Fund, and Nylabone.

Because of your support, cat adoptions reached a one-year personal best! At our December pancake breakfast the 500th cat of 2021 was adopted! (Dogs are close on their tail with 352 adoptions to date.) We couldn’t have done this without you!

We also were able to rescue and rehabilitate the “Souper” kittens – the nine kittens found dumped on the road side; all with serious upper respiratory issues, eye infections, and one with a broken leg. (Gumbo and Stew are a bonded pair because Gumbo is totally blind and Stew is her eyes). You can follow their and other pets’ stories on AAR’s Facebook page (aartexas).

We hope you will continue to support AAR’s effort to make a difference for the pets in our communities. And be assured that because AAR is an all-volunteer organization every dollar you donate is used to support the animals in our care. I am always available to answer any questions about AAR’s finances and operations.

Have a safe, healthy, and wonderful holiday,

Karen Pitcock, Executive Director

YEAR-END TAX & GIVING INFO

  • Per IRS regulations, if you plan to give a year-end gift by check, it must be brought to the shelter or postmarked by December 31, 2021. If the envelope is post-marked 2022, then we must count it as a 2022 donation – even if the check is dated 2021. For last minute mailing, you may want to send it by certified or registered mail and keep the receipt.

  • If you need a year-end receipt for tax purposes of all your 2021 gifts, please contact [email protected]

To our friends and supporters,

Reminder, as you shop for the holidays, you earn more votes, so you can keep voting for AAR multiple times during the campaign!

Every vote counts to help us receive a portion of the available Target funds as we continue our mission towards ending pet overpopulation that results in the euthanasia of unwanted cats and dogs. We do this by providing a rescue and adoption center, by emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering and educating on humane animal ownership.

Now through December 31, vote for Abandoned Animal Rescue through the Target Circle program to help determine how Target’s donation will be divvied up.

Create an account and Find out more about Target Circle here: http://www.target.com/circle

Thank you for your support, and we encourage you to share your support for us (and your thanks to Target) on social media throughout the duration of the voting!

Thank you to Petco Love Foundation for this life-saving grant!

We are thrilled to announce that Houston PetSet has awarded us a grant to support AAR’s StarFund. The StarFund provides assistance to animals in need of Emergency Medical Support, Spay/Neuter Support, Ounce-of-Prevention Wellness, Sit-to-Stay Behavior Rehabilitation, and the Pet Pantry. Funds are available for animals (stray or found) that need extra-ordinary or emergency medical care, and for pet owners who cannot afford spay/neuter, wellness care, behavioral-training, life-saving medical care, or feed or house their pet due to unforeseen circumstances.
